Setting BPM and Time Signature
Intro
It's easy to set the BPM (also called Tempo) and Time Signature (also called Meter).
If you specify a BPM, then the device will generate a click track.
The device assumes a default 4/4 time signature, but that's easy to change.
That means you only need to specify the time signature if you're using something other than 4/4.
If you want to specify both the BPM and the Time Signature then, simply use the format: SongName_TimeSignature_BPM.wav
Examples:
-
01 INTRO.wavor assigned tempo
This file will play with no click track
03 NewSong_128bpm.wav
This file will play back with a 128 BPM click (and use a 4/4 time signature by default)04 Ballad_6-8_72bpm.wav
This file will play back with a 72 BPM click and use a 6/8 time signature as specified
Checklist:
- Is your audio file “bounced to the grid”? (i.e., the start of the track matches the grid in your DAW, so the click lines up perfectly.)
- Lead-in time: Make sure you’ve left 1 or 2 bars of silence at the start if you want a count-in before the music begins.
- BPM in filename: Always add the BPM at the end of your track name.
- 4/4 is default: If you don’t add a Time Signature, the device will assume it’s 4/4.
If you want to try more complex time signatures, see our frequently asked questions on the homepage.
